Summer Sizzle - Inside and Out
Sizzling jazz in a great neighborhood

Summer Sizzle is a free, neighborhood festival and features live jazz -- best of local, regional and Chicago musicians -- in a variety of styles: traditional, Latin, swing, smooth and Dixieland. Check out the musical lineup below.  View a map of the festival grounds here.

MAIN STAGE (corner of Broadway & Menomonee)

Typhanie Monique

Soulful, honey-voiced chanteuse is a tour de force on Chicago music scene, “a modern-day Sarah Vaughan” (Jazz Times).  With guitarist Neal Alger.

Manty Ellis
Impeccable bebop, playing lyrical guitar with distinctive edge, Ellis is cornerstone
of the city's jazz community

4-6pm

Berkeley Fudge  
Godfather of Milwaukee jazz, virtuoso saxman Fudge is “old school” and has
appeared with artists like Sonny Stitt and the late Lena Horne.       

6:30-8:30pm

Don Lewis Quintet
Seasoned trumpet master, Lewis plays straight-ahead jazz, sometimes with blues
twist or sprinkle of swing.

Ray Silkman       

“You can feel his music,” the great Benny Carter said about saxophonist Silkman -- back by popular demand! Silkman's energy and passion flow from the depths of his soul, mesmerizing listeners with superb talent and dazzling artistry.

11am-1pm Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble
Influenced by Django Reinhardt, group also draws on swing, traditional Latin, Parisian waltzes & vintage jazz.

Bourbon Street Stompers
When the fantastic sextet plays its delightful Dixieland tunes, you’ll step to the N’awlins
beat.

Agnieszka Iwanska

Chicago-based, the Polish-born Iwanksa sings in a sultry and sensitive style. Noted jazz critic Howard Reich hails her as “voice of promise” in contemporary jazz.

6:30-8pm

Rhythm Voyage

Argentinian drummer Leo Tato leads this Latin jazz and world music sextet.

8:30-10:30pm Swing Nouveau
Swing-dance in the streets to snazzy sound of this 15-piece vintage band. Frolic to the joyful tunes of 30s & 40s.
SOUTH PARK   (100 block of North Broadway)
12:30-2:30pm Pam & the Players
Vocal diva Pam Duronio, with guitarist Tim Stemper and saxman Warren Wiegratz, creates cool, upbeat jazz.
3-5pm

Eric Jacobson     

Group evokes suave sounds of Freddy Hubbard and Art Blakey, with hints of Latin jazz and funk of Donald Byrd.

6-8pm

Ray Tabs & Ollie Davis    

Solid pianist Tabs and soulful vocalist Davis perform dynamic jazz, including show tunes & hint of R&B.

8:30-10:30pm

Jeannine Rivers

Sonorous voice,  tasteful swinging sounds, joyous personality.

Joe Magnino

Accordion jazz ala Art Van Damme, Big Band and Swing Era.

Keyboardist Sam Steffke and vocalist / bassist Debi Kossoris entertain with stylish jazz sounds.

Duo sends out intense groove with some favorite standards and funky originals.
