1) CARDINAL STRITCH UNIVERSITY, NORTHWESTERN MUTUAL ART GALLERY – (6801 N. Yates Rd., Stein Center - 414.410.4105 - www.stritch.edu/gallery) BFA Installation Exhibit: Dichotomies. Stritch BFA graduates Camille Demarinis and Daniel Listwan address an array of dichotomies through their paintings, drawings, sculpture and installation pieces. The artists create a fascinating world of colorful organic forms, vibrant emergences and macroscopic organisms. Visitors can enjoy live music, food and wine. Exhibition July 24 through August 28. Friday: 5:30 to 8:30pm 2) DEAN JENSEN GALLERY – (759 N. Water St. - 414.278.7100 - www.deanjensengallery.com) Rank Strangers: Photographs by Susana Raab. A former New York Times staff photographer and a two-time nominee for Pulitzer Prizes, Susana Raab is now emerging as one of the more distinctive new artists in fine art photography. Based in Washington, D.C., Raab now spends much of her time criss-crossing the land with her cameras, often dropping in as a stranger in Small Town America. With a frequency that seems almost uncanny, there she regularly has encounters with characters who could people the songbooks of Lyle Lovett and Loudon Wainwright III, among them "The Ronald McDonald's Doesn't Want You to Know About" and a slew of Elvis, Superman and Col. Sanders wannabes. Exhibition July 24 through August 29. Friday: 10am to 9pm; Saturday: 10am to 4pm 3) DeLIND GALLERY OF FINE ART – (450 E. Mason St. - 414.271.8525 - www.delindgallery.com) Everything French. Featured are the impressionist paintings of Japanese artist Kazuki Yoshioka, who lives and paints in and around Paris and Parisian scenes by American artist Chuck Weber. Our poster table will offer a collection of antique and classic French posters. Paintings and drawings by notable Barbizon artists round out our Everything French art collection. Jump Cut Pop explores the strategies of six artists who juxtapose images drawn from popular culture with text and/or seemingly unrelated popular images. The artists draw from a confluence of sources, exerting a degree of compositional freedom with little conscious regard for historical continuity or visual hierarchy. The juxtapositions often suggest that images are interesting unto themselves, divorced from their inherent meaning by their proximity to other completely unrelated images. Appropriated photos and comics are among the sources most favored by this group. Exhibition through October 4. Friday: 10am to 9pm; Saturday: 10am to 4:30pm 6) KATIE GINGRASS GALLERY – (241 N. Broadway - 414.289.0855 - www.gingrassgallery.com) Abstract Perspectives. Interpretations of natural patterns, textures and forms rendered in a variety of media. This exhibit in the Brooks Stevens Gallery of Industrial Design traces the evolution of both the culture and the products developed for the American kitchen. The history of the kitchen is a reflection of our values as a society and the prevailing attitudes towards women throughout diverse decades of our history. A multitude of products and other artifacts such as recipe books and period decorative motifs will be displayed in period kitchen environments. Also on display: MIAD's 2009 Juried Senior Exhibition.
